HOW TO PREPARE FOR A LASH EXTENSION APPOINTMENT
Avoid caffeine
Caffeine can cause your eyes to flutter and keep you from relaxing during the appointment so we ask that you avoid caffeine the morning of your appointment.
Arrive with no eye make up
Eye make up creates a barrier between your natural lashes and the adhesive and in turn leads to bad retention. We ask that you avoid using a manual lash curler, waterproof mascara and eyeliner for 24 hours prior to your appointment.
LASH EXTENSION CARE
Cleanse Your Lashes daily
Having a clean base is important. Things like natural oils, dead skin cells, make up and skin care can build up on your lashes. This can lead to poor retention, extra weight on your lashes, stunted lash growth, and infection.
I recommend cleansing 2x a day with Lash Bath or any cleanser specifically formulated for eyelash extensions. If you work out or go swimming, cleanse immediately afterwards. Please avoid eye make up on days you’re coming in for your fill.
avoid oil-based products
If you insist on still using eyeliner, use an oil-free liquid liner. Cream, pencil, and gel liners are extremely difficult to remove from your lash line. Do NOT use mascara under any circumstances. Under-eye concealers can also transfer onto your top lash line, so be diligent about cleansing.
avoid heat
Heat from opening the oven, heat styling tools, saunas, steamy showers and any open flames can relax your curls or singe the tips of your extensions. It will oftentimes lead to a removal and full set so be careful around heat.
SLeep on your back
Sleeping on your stomach or sides can cause excessive friction. If its unavoidable, switching to silk pillowcases is a gamechanger. Not only is it less friction on your lashes, it’s great for your skin and hair!
avoid picking
Picking and pulling at your extensions will make your extensions pop off and your natural lashes will likely pop off with it.
book your appointments in advance
I recommend scheduling 2-3 appointments ahead to avoid trouble finding a time slot within the 2 week time frame. Please remember that if you have less than 40% of your extensions remaining, a full set will need to be booked.
WHAT IS NORMAL
Everyone sheds roughly 1-5 lashes every day. Don’t be alarmed if you notice them from time to time as they are more noticeable than your natural lashes. The extension falls out attached to the natural lash when it’s ready to come out, and a new baby lash takes its place. Some days you won’t lose any, other days you might lose 3 or 4. It’s completely normal and does not mean your eyelashes are being damaged.
Some lash growth cycles are faster than others. You may find every few months, your lashes shed faster than other times. It usually means that you have a lot of new growth, and when you come in I will have more lashes to work with. Other times they might still look great at 3-4 weeks, as they have not shed much.
On average, you’ll need to come back every 2 weeks for a fill. Fills are 75-90 minutes. 90 minute fills should be booked if 75 minutes doesn’t get you 100% full.
WHAT IS NOT NORMAL
If you experience intense itching and or red/swollen eyelids in the first few days after the application. This could be an allergic reaction. Unfortunately, there’s nothing we can do to get around. I can either remove them for you or you could let them fall off on their own.
Excessive shedding of extensions without the natural lashes in the first few days is not ideal. This is uncommon so please contact me if you feel they are shedding rapidly within the first 3 days of application. We can troubleshoot and/or reassess your lashes.
